About Premier Web Protect

“Activists rang my doorbell, broke my oak door and one protester was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb.”

— Tucker Carlson 11/8/2018

Have you ever done a search on your name using a people-finder site? If so, I’m sure you were very uncomfortable with how public your personal information actually is.

With a few clicks, anyone can easily access background reports that include:

  • Contact information
  • Home/business addresses
  • Properties owned/leased
  • Court and criminal records
  • Liens and judgments
  • Financial/credit info
  • Cellphone numbers
  • Social Security numbers
  • Children’s names/schools
  • Movies you’ve watched
  • Amazon wish lists
  • Old social media posts

Whatever their motivation—money, revenge, influence, extortion, harassment, or even physical harm—nefarious domestic and foreign individuals, groups and governments have weaponized the Internet to facilitate the targeting of individuals and businesses. The common thread among these cases is the ease with which private information about the victims was acquired online. For many public-facing citizens, such as law enforcement, government officials and celebrities, the discovery of easily-queried address and network information should be of great concern:

Doxing

Posting private information online to deliberately threaten, harass, or embarrass someone. In June 2018, an NYU professor used unsophisticated methods to compile and release a database of personal information for more than 1,500 ICE employees. This provided activist groups with the information to carry out harassment tactics toward these individuals, including intimidation (confrontations in restaurants), cyber stalking and dissemination of hate mobs.

Swatting:

The harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service into sending a police and emergency service response team, including SWAT, to another person’s address. This is triggered by false reporting of a serious law enforcement emergency, such as a bomb threat, murder, hostage situation or other incident. Swatting incidents have occurred at the homes of Sean Combs, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Clint Eastwood, Michelle Obama, Robert Mueller and John Brennan.
